Law Institute Agency Services

Legislative Legal Staff

For over 30 years the Alabama Law Institute has provided legal counsel for both the Senate and House Judiciary Committees. In recent years legal counsel has also been provided to the House committees on the Constitution, Campaigns & Elections, Health, Commerce and Small Business, County and Municipal Government and to the Senate Committees on Transportation and Banking.

Legislative Law Clerk Program

In 2013, the Law Institute initiated a Legislative Law Clerk Program to provide efficient and cost-effective legal research for Legislators while giving students valuable experience in the mechanics of government. Law Students from each of Alabama’s accredited law schools, which are selected, earn credit hours while they assist in legislative research and drafting during the Legislative Session.
